Remembering 9/11

As we remember the tragedies of September 11, 2001, and those who lost their lives, let's also remember to forgive those who committed the crimes. While I'm sure not every American who died then is now in heaven, it is more than likely that all of the hi-jackers - and those who have died in the war against us since then - are doomed to an eternity in hell. Those "terrorists" were sinners just like you and I, but they had likely not heard the good news of Jesus Christ. Instead, they chose to follow their own sinful nature, and are now reaping the consequences.

Their crimes, heinous as they may be, were no worse than our sins. God's standard is His holiness, and none of us meet that. We need His grace and forgiveness just as much as anyone else. Each one of us deserves to die just as much as those "terrorists," but God has shown us mercy through Christ's death in our place. So the next time you begin to rejoice in our enemies' defeats, remember that you deserve no less, and pray that they might hear the gospel as you have, and turn from their wicked ways.

Let us be grateful to those who have given their lives fighting for our freedom - but not forget that we should also fight for the freedom of souls - even the souls of "terrorists."
